An Easy Dress

Last winter I made three dresses using  McCall's dress pattern M6886.  This dress pattern is such an easy and versatile pattern to use, so for those of you who want an easy dress project  with quick results this is the pattern for you!  Quite a few of the ladies who attend my sewing  groups made this dress last winter with brilliant results.  The dress is for knitted fabrics , it can be made to fit very tightly or  just to skim the body.  The very popular scuba knit fabric works very well with this pattern, but do check your fabric against the stretch gauge at the back of the pattern to make sure your fabric has enough stretch.

If you decide to make this dress and select View 'C'  you might want to raise the neckline a couple of centimetres, I found it a bit low, especially if you are sitting down as I do demonstrating .

If you would like to sew with knitted fabric but unsure how to handle these fabrics book on one of my Sewing with Knits course Friday 8th December where you will learn about the properties of knitted fabric and how to handle them.

I have also  cut out a dress the using a  Simple Sew Pattern  and the dress is called the 'Bella Dress'.  I haven't used this pattern company before so I will let you know how  I get on.

Embroidery Projects:

I have just ran a workshop customising aprons and turning them into fabulous Christmas gifts, just a  brilliant day.

I have been stitching out lots of  lace ornaments for Christmas.  I am delighted with the 3D stars (see photo), looking very pretty on my twig tree.

See the lovely embroidered bags I have been making, I did a workshop last week making these bags.  I'll post some photos of the bags that were made, just need the frames to be glued in .  I've now embroidered out another design to use for these bags.  I'm beginning to realise that bag making is a bit addictive.
